Today is Going to be a Good Day

{Open heart surgery 6/26/2015}

Today is going to be a good day!

5 years ago I had open heart surgery, and when I woke up I had amnesia. For 6 days I didn’t know where I was or even my kids’ names (I still struggle with memory issues a tad).

It took months to bounce back. That’s why I start my journal entry each morning by writing, “Today is going to be a good day.”

This helps me seek out the positive instead of focusing on the negative.

Sweet friends, if you’re not tethered to a hospital bed, then today is already a good day.

At the end of the night before you go to bed, I hope you jot down something you were thankful for.

“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].”

~ John 10:10 AMP

“This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.”
~ Psalm 118:24 (NLT)

Thank you Jesus for today.

Thank You for family and genuine friends.

But most importantly, thank You for forgiveness and the love You have for us by dying on the cross for our mistakes. Thank You for second chances, and the choice to focus on the good things You bring into our lives.

    Amen! Thank you for being an encouragement, Dabney. I pray for you and your family.

  2. Ah, just the message I needed to read today; thank you for that reminder, my friend. May you be blessed with a superabundance of good days ahead!
